For many years, Army of Hope International founder Yadira Castro saw the need to support students in Honduras and Central America. Over the years instead of improving, the situation worsened due to unemployment, the abandonment of parents’ to their children, child labor, hunger, and crime.
Born and raised in Honduras, Yadira saw the immense suffering but also the promising potential of each child with whom she came into contact. She then became a certified teacher in Honduras to learn of and explore the lack of resources and supporting a broken system. In 2001, Yadira began her career in the mission field, fueling her desire to help improve the lives of children in Honduras and Central America.
Fast forward 19 years, Army of Hope International was established as a 501(c)(3) organization to help provide students with the educational opportunities that they need and deserve.
